Our People
Our people are our most important asset. Through responsibility,
dialogue, development, information, focus on a good working
environment and social responsibility, we strive to create a great
place to work. We believe that satisfied people create satisfied
customers and business partners.
Our culture
We focus on the creation of a culture that combines
professional ambitions and strategy with our values.
Our culture is also formed by our global ambition and a global
presence, demanding cultural awareness, tolerance and respect in
everything we do. In addition to this, working with chemical
tankers requires a safety awareness not only at sea, but also
ashore, and it is a goal for us to make safety an integrated part
of who we are.
To take part in the global social responsibility challenges is
also part of Nordic Tankers' strategy. Read more about CSR
initiatives here.
Meet our employees
Accountant Dennis Gordon Henriksen - Copenhagen
Working in corporate accounting contains many challenges.
Even though there is a set of standard routines, the job also
requires many different assignments, which makes it a wonderful
dynamic environment.
The accounting department is not merely a place for numbers and
statements, but also closely linked to the ship operation.
Accounting is usually a support function, but at Nordic Tankers you
are an active part in the management of an entire fleet.
The demanding job is made easy with good colleagues all around,
and the spirit is always high. The "Can-do" attitude is adopted all
through the company.
The location in Harbour House is excellent with a view on the
local harbour and close to central Copenhagen.
The house contains nice office facilities, fitness
opportunities, and a gourmet lunchroom.
In Nordic Tankers, there is an active staff club which promotes
sport activities and other social events.
After nine months on the job, I have only the hunger for
more.

Director, Chartering Torben Larsen - Copenhagen
A huge motivational factor working in Nordic Tankers is being
part of a very aggressive growth strategy in an otherwise depressed
market.
With an increasing fleet, we are required to expand our
trading activities, and it is inspiring to be a part
of the team and the development of new business.
There is a desire to work accross departments to optimize
results and an awareness that we are working towards the same
goal.

Operations Manager Liv Kjær - Stamford
The last four years have been the most exciting, challenging,
adventurous, hard, creative, demanding, awarding and - last but not
least - some of the best in my 26 year old life. As an operator in
an international shipping company like Nordic Tankers, you get to
explore many sides of the industry - I started as a trainee with 2
years schooling, moving from one department to the next to learn as
much as possible about ships, accounting, chartering, operations
and agency before getting "thrown out to the wolfs" on my own two
feet.
Within the first year as an operator, I got my first big customer
along with a 10 year old contract. The relationship has since led
to travelling, contract renegotiations and moving to a new country
to get closer to the business - but it has also matured me as a
person having to struggle with unfamiliar trading areas, new
cultures and the conservative attitude in shipping. During these
years, there has also been time for studying at Copenhagen Business
School, and last summer I graduated with a business degree, my
thesis being about Nordic Tankers.
Looking back on all the opportunities and experiences I have
had with this company along with a bunch of great colleagues have
given me the passion for my job as an operator with Nordic
Tankers.
After four years in shipping, I have experienced a lot more than
my friends still at school, and I know this is still the
beginning.

Superintendent Karen Kruse - Copenhagen
I joined Nordic Tankers SQE
"Safety/Quality/Environment Department" in June 2010 and
immediately felt welcome. There is a strong will here to
make things happen, and though we have a very busy work
day, we always have some kind of fun and time for a laugh
during the day. I enjoy when my colleagues, also from other
departments, come by my desk to solve a matter in person and not
always just send an e-mail.
In our department we have a lot of communication with various
nationalities of crews onboard and other foreign parties both on
e-mail and in person, so it is important to be open-minded,
helpful and diplomatic towards issues or requests, but still
be able to stand up for your own values and company
procedures/policies.
The most important thing to me is that the content of my job
makes sense, adds value and moves things ahead. Working with
complicated or difficult assignments not giving up is fun
when we finally succeed or progress can be
seen. As Nordic Tankers is a primarily new
organization, working here is often creating opportunities to work
both in groups or independent with various tasks, and this makes my
daily job more exciting.
